ABBA have warned US Presidential candidate Donald Trump against using their music at his campaign rallies.

Former US President Donald Trump has used several ABBA tracks at his rally event last month, including 'The Winner Takes It All', 'Money, Money, Money', and 'Dancing Queen'.

This rally took place at St Cloud, Minnesota last month, which happens to be the US state with the highest Swedish population.

It also emerged that the campaign took the time to screen footage of ABBA bandmembers on a big screen in the St Cloud, Minnesota venue. It also included messages which urged Trump supporters to donate.

News of Trump's usage of ABBA's music got back to bandmember Bjorn Ulvaeus, who later told Swedish newswire TT via text message that ABBA's record company - Universal Music would "make sure it is taken down".

Insisting that footage from the rally is to be "immediately taken down and removed", Universal Music has stated that Donald Trump did not ask for permission to use the band's music or videos.

“Together with the members of Abba, we have discovered that videos have been released where Abba’s music/videos has been used at Trump events, and we have therefore requested that such use be immediately taken down and removed", a spokesperson said. “Universal Music Publishing AB and Polar Music International AB have not received any request, so no permission or licence has been given to Trump".

ABBA have become the latest musicians to call out Mr Trump for using their music, including Beyoncé who has reportedly threatened him with legal action for using her song 'Freedom'.
