Sugababes were convinced that nobody would turn up to their 2022 Glastonbury set.

The group who currently comprise of Siobhan Donaghy, Keisha Buchanan and Mutya Buena, will perform at this year's instalment of the Worthy Farm festival this evening.

In a recent interview, the trio cast their minds back to their packed 2022 live set at the festival, which was a roaring success. Although they admitted that they did not expect anyone to turn up to watch them perform at the smaller Field of Avalon.

In fact, Sugababes thought someone "famous" had turned up when extra security staff were called to their show. However, it was in fact for them! Such was the size of the crowds. the police had to guard the area.

“I remember quite vividly that Mutya, in particular, didn’t think anyone would come to see us", revealed Siobhan. “All this extra security arrived, and we got a safety briefing moments before going on stage".

Keisha remarked: “We thought someone famous had turned up".

Siobhan then stated: “I'm pretty sure I came off stage in shock".

“Every performance is special – but filling up that tent felt really impressive", Mutya added. “Obviously everyone wants to be on the main stage, but I thought Avalon was amazing".

Elsewhere, Keisha pointed to the time that Sugababes played at the festival on the Pyramid Stage in 2003 which included former bandmember Heidi Range.  At the time, Keisha feared the worst, as they were a wildcard booking at the time, and a girl group play was unheard of at that stage.

“We were one of the first, if not the first, female pop band to play the main stage", she said. “It was very controversial at the time. I remember having conversations about what to do if anyone threw a bottle of pee at us".

Sugababes are known for classic pop hits including: 'Overload', 'Push The Button', 'Too Lost In You'.
