Status Yellow wind and rain warnings remain in place across Ireland until 3pm today.

The lingering effects of Storm Debi will be felt across the afternoon with potential fallen trees/branches, localised flooding, wave overtopping and hazardous travelling conditions.

The UK Met office also has a Status Yellow wind and rain warning in place for the six northern counties until 2pm.

Storm Debi continues its route northeastwards over the island. Met Éireann have said that severe and damaging wind gusts will continue for a time.

Up to 100,000 homes and business are left without power, according to the ESB, after Storm Debi caused considerable damage to the electricity network overnight, predominantly in the West, Midwest, Midlands and Northeast.

ESB Networks crews are currently in the process of assessing damage, making the network safe and repairing electricity supply where safe to do so.

Galway, Roscommon, Westmeath, Meath, Cavan and Louth are the counties most impacted.
