A search began this week, after news a 12 year-old boy who had been holidaying in Ireland with his parents, went missing at the Cliffs of Moher in Co Clare.

This morning (Sunday) a body was recovered from the sea, around 3km off Doolin in Galway Bay by the Doolin Coast Guard Unit and the Aran Islands lifeboat unit.

A post mortem will take place at University Hospital Limerick, along with an official identification.

The search operation involved multiple agencies, including the Coast Guard helicopter Rescue 115, the Doolin Coast Guard Unit, Civil Defence, Coast Guard Drone teams, the Aran Islands lifeboat, and members of An Garda Síochána.

Following the recovery of the body, the search operation has now been stood down.
