Garda Dog Laser To Enjoy Retirement In Cork

Joining the Garda Dog Unit at 5 months old, Laser was introduced to his handler Garda Pat Harrington, who spent the next 18 months training him as a general purpose dog. In no time at all, Laser was ready for the step up.

One of the most adorable members of the service, Laser can now look forward to retirement, having played a key role in a myriad of major Garda investigations over the years.

Such moments include sniffing out a €900,000 grow house in county Clare. In that same week, Laser also played a part in the arrests of a suspect in an attempted car-jacking in Cork.

The Garda dog's Laser-like nose, has also led to Gardaí finding several burglars, and recovering lots of stolen goods.

At the end of a log hard day at work, Laser would be rewarded with a rodeo dog, Dentastix, treats, as well as some playtime with his favourite ball.

A kind message paying homage to Laser was posted on the Garda X account.

"There will be lots more much-deserved lie-ins and playtime as he enjoys his 80s after a long and distinguished career. Thank you for your service, Laser", the message read.

Laser can now look forward to a well earned retirement, with his best friend Pat Harrington.
