A woman has pleaded guilty to dangerous driving causing the death of a 50-year-old mother-of-two in Co. Cork in February.

46-year-old Jennifer Thomas with an address in Glanmire, appeared at Cork Circuit Criminal Court this afternoon.

She faced the single charge of driving in a manner that was dangerous to the public, causing the death of Sheila Dunne on the 11th of February last.

The mother-of-two died at Cork University Hospital two days after the car she was travelling in crashed at Sarsfield Court, Glanmire.

Today in court, Ms Thomas replied ‘guilty’ when the single charge was put to her.

Judge Helen Boyle ordered a probation report, a GP's report and a psychologist’s report.

The court heard Sheila Dunne’s family have prepared victim impact statements, and Judge Boyle offered her condolences to members of the Dunne family who were present in court.

The case is due for mention again on the 19th of November.
