The closures followed alarming discoveries, including a live rat in a food storage room, a dead rat in a kitchen, and a widespread cockroach infestation in a cold unit storing uncovered food.
The FSAI noted the surge in closure orders in September as highly concerning. Nine of the closure orders were issued under the FSAI Act 1998, and four under the EU Regulations 2020.
The affected businesses are located in Cork, Dublin, and Tipperary.

The FSAI emphasised the importance of strict hygiene practices and urged businesses to prioritize the health and safety of consumers.
