The future effects of climate change are causing concern along a stretch of rail line in Dublin.
A new plan to protect the DART route from Merrion Gates to Wicklow Harbour, and nearby homes, has now opened for public consultation.
Irish Rail says €230 million is needed to prevent "overtopping" and "track washout," which have become more frequent over the last 20 years.
Without intervention, parts of the line could be at risk within a decade.
Spokesperson Jane Cregan expects work could start in four years.
"This is a major climate resilience program that we are undertaking to protect the train line on the Rosslare route." she said.
"We are encouraging anyone living along that route, or people who enjoy the amenities along the route to look at the proposals we have published today and give their feedback.
"Significant amounts of the coast has been lost in the last decade - It wouldn't have been predicted to have eroded to the level that it has."
The public consultation will last till December 4th and can be found here.
