Protests across the country today will call for urgent Government action to tackle the rising cost of living.
Protestors say it will be too late to wait until the budget in October to help hard pressed households.
The demonstrations will be held in Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Galway and Sligo from 1 o'clock this afternoon.
People Before Profit TD Richard Boyd Barrett says people can't afford to meet spiralling prices:
"The average worker has lost an estimated 2,500 euro in purchasing power. The lowest income families are hardest hit by increases in energy and heating costs, by the increases in food prices...and, of course, massively unaffordable rents which are absolutely crucifying people. People cant find anywhere to live at all."
