Its reported that criminal gang members have been warning council workers not to cut grass in areas where they are stashing their illicit drugs according to Siptu.

Criminal gangs are reportedly warning Dublin City Council workers not to cut grass where they are hiding drugs and weapons.

SIPTU claims there are certain "no-go" areas in the city, where workers are regularly verbally or physically assaulted.

Figures show work-related violence against council staff has risen, with 171 cases reported last year, compared to 140 in 2023.

In the past year, Dublin City Council, including Dublin Fire Brigade, reported 171 cases of abuse and threats against staff, up from 140 in 2023.

A notable incident involved a park worker near Ballymun being threatened with violence for cutting grass.

Among the 171 cases, threats of violence increased significantly from 23 in 2021 to 54 last year.

Verbal abuse cases rose from 34 to 64, anti-social behavior incidents surged from five to 28, and physical violence incidents slightly increased from 21 to 22.
