This comes as senior garda management met with several business owners across Dublin City to discuss policing and crime, in the wake of a series of violent incidents across the capital in recent weeks.

The meeting took place at the Gaiety Theatre in Dublin, and saw senior Gardaí speak to 190 business owners, lasting for about an hour. This comes as the Government have promised to allocate €10 million in additional funding.

Dublin Town who are a group representing business in the City, said that the meeting was positive and constructive.

Speaking after the meeting, Assistant Commissioner Angela Willis claimed that there has been a "perception of fear", amid feelings among the public are that Dublin is not a safe place to currently live in.

She also said that an increase in visibility of policing on the streets is important to restore a sense of safety on the streets of Dublin.

Outlining plans, which would increase visibility on the streets, the Assistant Commissioner also insisted that officers cannot work in isolation, and claimed that an agreement has been made at this meeting that a community and partnership approach is also needed.

This also comes after the Minister for Justice Helen McEntee stated she has "full confidence" in Garda Commissioner Drew Harris, adding that she will continue to do his work.
