Following a dry start to the week, more widespread rain has been predicted for tomorrow morning, which will quickly clear in the northwest, with temperatures remaining between 9 and 12 degrees, before dropping to between 4 and 6 degrees at night.

While it will be dry for the beginning of Tuesday night, rain will return from the southwest, becoming heavy in parts, before extending to all areas through the night.

Sleet or snow may fall overnight on Wednesday, after rain has cleared eastwards. Lowest temperatures of 1 to 2 degrees are expected for Wednesday night.

The national forecaster has predicted longer spells of rain for Thursday, in a mix of sun and showers, which are to be more persistent over the western part of the country, leading to snow and sleet on occasions.

Thursday night is to be cold and frosty, before another cold and dry day expected for Friday, with showers once again expected to lead to sleet and snow.

These unsettled conditions are set to continue into next week, with an ongoing chance of frost.
