The healthcare system have applied to build this maternity unit at the Rotunda Hospital along Dublin's Clerys Quarter, where they hope to build “five floors of flexible space for collaboration, inspiration and the next era of growth”.

Among the features of this maternity unit would include a paediatric outpatient department, maternal outpatient department, medical consultant suites, along with other adult outpatient departments for the Rotunda Hopsital.

This proposed outpatients clinics and care services would be located along the Earl Building, backing onto the iconic department store. It is also part of a wider Clerys development.

It would be included along other facilties in Clerys quarter, including a rooftop bar, tea rooms, offices, a H&M, and a Premier Inn Hotel.

The HSE will be seeking to change the use of this building from approved (but not yet occupied) offices to a health clinic.

Their proposal reads the following.

“The proposed change of use involves a ground level entrance foyer from Earl Place and use of upper floors (first to fifth floor levels)", they said. “The basement facilities (bike storage, changing room, showers, boiler room, storage, and sprinkler tanks) will now service the Health Clinic rather than the approved offices. (The total change of use area will be 3754 sq.m)".

They continued, “The proposal includes modifications to internal layouts and fitout and new LED illuminated signage at entrance level at Earl Place".

“An increased area for additional plants is proposed at roof level to ensure the building complies with a high energy rating. Approved screening louvres on the roof are extended to cover additional plant area".

The HSE have yet to comment any further on the matter.
