Ryanair Blasts Call To Limit Number Of Overnight Flights At Dublin Airport

The decision which was taken by Fingal County Council this week, has been heavily criticised by Ryanair, who have branded it as "idiotic" and "stupid".

The council issued Ryanair with an enforcement call earlier this week, limiting the number of flights to 65, between the hours of 11pm and 7am. They have been given 6 weeks to comply with this condition.

The decision has been blasted by Ryanair, who have called the decision "stupid" in a statement. They have also called for the decision to be amended, to restrict the number of flights between 12am and 6am, instead of 11pm and 7am.

The operator have insisted that Fingal County Council and a  "tiny number of neighbours", cannot have the power to restrict flights like this.

They also added that night time restrictions are no longer necessary when new planes run by it. They also claimed that noise emissions have lessened, with Air Lingus flights 50% quieter. Ryanair also claimed that this "idiotic" restriction would mean fewer flights would be in operation than before than before Dublin Airport's €300m second runway was built.

Ryanair CEO Eddie Wilson has called on Transport Minister Eamon Ryan to intervene, adding that he would resign if the Green Party leader failed to do so.
