The facility, which has been operating since May 26th, will remain open until June 21st, operating from 11am to 7pm on a daily basis. Staff is provided by the National Ambulance Service, along with HSE Mid-West Community Healthcare and Public Health Mid-West.

The HSE opened the facility in response to the spike in Limerick COVID-19 cases, with further pop-up testing centres opening at Rathkeale, Kilmallock and Moyross over the past week.

Anyone attending a testing centre should bring photo ID and provide their mobile phone number in order to receive notice of results. No appointments are necessary.

The extension comes as the Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Tony Holohan, made a direct appeal to the people of Limerick amid concerns around rising case numbers in the county, with Limerick reporting positivity rates at four times the national average.

Dr. Holohan reminded those who have been vaccinated that they can still transmit the virus, saying "If you're an individual who's vaccinated, you have a level of protection that people who aren't vaccinated don't have. It's still important for you if you're going to be out an about and engaging in activities that are appropriate for you to engage in, and that are safe for you to engage in, that you still keep up a good level of observation of the public health guidance."
