Limerick Gardaí arrested a man and seized over €200,000 of suspected cocaine, in Croom, Co. Limerick, yesterday, 7th February 2025.
Gardaí attached to the Divisional Drugs Unit in Henry Street Garda Station stopped and searched a vehicle near Croom, Co. Limerick.
During the course of the search, cocaine with a value of approximately €204,000 was seized.
The drugs seized are now subject to analysis by Forensic Science Ireland.
A man (aged in his 50’s) was arrested in connection with the incident.
He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at a Garda Station in the Limerick area.
Investigations are ongoing.
This seizure forms part of Operation Tara; an enhanced national anti-drugs strategy, which was launched by Garda Commissioner Drew Harris on 2nd July 2021.
The focus of Operation Tara is to disrupt, dismantle and prosecute drug trafficking networks, at all levels - international, national, local - involved in the importation, distribution, cultivation, production, local sale and supply of controlled drugs.
