Avril Lavigne made an explosive debut onto TikTok with a nostalgia-filled video featuring her hit song, Sk8er Boi. The singer shared a video set to one of her most recognizable songs, featuring professional skateboarder and entrepreneur, Tony Hawk.
Within its short lifespan, the post has been viewed over 5million times on Lavigne and Hawk’s respective profiles. The video features the singer lip-synching to her 2002 hit single from the album, Let Go, wearing one of her more iconic early-career outfits, including the tie. The video then cuts to Tony wearing the iconic tie while he showcases his talent on the halfpipe, set against the magnificent ocean backdrop.
Fans were shocked to see the 36-year-old looking so youthful, with several fans pointing out in the comments how the singer has “not aged a day” since the song first released.
“So … we all just non-aging vampires now?!” one person quipped, while another wrote, “Can we get the beauty secrets? you didn’t age …”
Since the singer’s social media debut, Avril has amassed almost one million followers with thanks to her viral video. The Hawk man took to his profile to send a message of thanks to the pop-punk singer by writing, “Thanks @avrilavigne for the mini session!”
The singer also posted a few behind-the-scenes photos from the shoot on her Instagram which show Avril did some skateboarding herself, alongside the pro. “Hope this makes you laugh as hard as it's made my friends and I laugh all week,” she wrote in the accompanying caption. “That's what I get for sk8ing in my slippers and dress.”
According to Billboard, Sk8er Boi peaked at #10 on the charts in 2002, competing against Eminem’s Lose Yourself for chart glory.
