The singer who was representing LMFM, was named the overall winner of the A New Local Hero talent search, which included strong competition from across the country, vying for the prestigious title.
On the night fans, friends and family watched six of Ireland's most promising stars looking to make their way in the music industry, including Agnew, Bobbi Arlo of FM104, Mia Black from Shannonside/Northern Sound, Asophonics of KCLR FM, 96FM's Projective, and Jessica Brett of Tipp FM.
Agnew will receive €5,000 in prize money, along with €5,000 worth of recording, mixing, mastering time at the famous Camden Recording Studios.
Calum Agnew who had his first sold out show at The Beehive in London in 2021, has also performed in several venues across Ireland, including Whelan's Main Room back in March. He can now look forward to having his own song released via the independent Irish Record label, Rubyworks, who include artists of the ilk of Hozier on their books.
A New Local Hero is a key part of Irish Music Month, which was an initiative set up by Hot Press and the Independent Broadcasters of Ireland, and funded by the Coimisiún na Meán.
