Coldplay's Chris Martin has opened up about his battle with depression, as well as sharing things which boost his own mood.

The Coldplay frontman, has shared tips to battle this issue, having openly admitted that travelling the globe can be a lonely experience at times. Coldplay are currently on the road with their Music of the Spheres Tour, which first began in 2022.

Now, Chris Martin has shared his favourite ways for keeping his spirits up, adding that he also hopes others may find comfort from these tips.

"I've noticed a few people recently, including myself, struggling a bit with depression so I was going to tell you some things that have been helping me on tour and in general in hopes that maybe some of them might be good for you too", Martin told fans via Instagram following a live show in Hong Kong.

Outlining these tips, Martin said: "The first thing I wanted to tell you was that there is a thing called freeform writing where you write for twelve minutes, all your thoughts, and then you burn it or throw it away. That's very good".

The singer continued: "Transcendental meditation has been really wonderful for me... There's a thing called Proprioception which is like body movement to help balance your brain. There is a man called Jim Costello, who did the Costello Method that's very helpful - especially for young people with ADHD or autism".

"stay grateful and happy to be alive"

When it comes to other forms of lifting morale, Chris Martin also mentioned a book called The Oxygen Advantage by Patrick G McKeown, the psychedelic music of Johns Hopkins, as well as the move, Sing Sing.

Martin also noted a new musical artist called, Chloe Qisha:"Her music makes me happy".

"There's some people dancing there, so maybe dancing too. Those are some of the things that are helping me stay grateful and happy to be alive", Martin also added.

Back in November, Chris Martin paused a Coldplay concert in Sydney, after spotting a young fan being crushed in the crowd. More on this here.
