Country legend Dolly Parton is thinking about making a rock album in a bid to enter the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Following her first-time nomination, the singer is seeking votes by teasing fans with a “great rock album” of Dolly hits. Although it is yet unknown whether the veteran singer and actress will actually follow through with her idea as it depends on her entry.

Attending the ceremony this May, the singer is poised up against some similarly huge names from an array of genres. To name a few; Judas Priest, Rage Against The Machine, Pat Benatar, Kate Bush, Duran Duran, Devo, Beck, Dionne Warwick, Lionel Richie, the Eurythmics, Eminem, and A Tribe Called Quest.

Speaking in a recent interview with Billboard, the 9-5 hitmaker said she was “absolutely floored” when she learned of her nomination. “I’ve never thought of myself as being rock ’n’ roll in any sense of the word – but I guess they judge it on the music and the influence certain songs have had, and I guess I’ve had songs with other people in that realm. So, this may have been just a God-wink for me to go ahead and do that. It’s just nice to be nominated.”

Dolly said she feels “tickled to death” when country music receives recognition, following its surprise representation at the 2022 Super Bowl. With Mickey Guyton singing the national anthem, she said, “I’m always tickled to death when country music is given the respect that I really think it deserves, and country music is so hot right now. We have so many great new artists — and to get to sing on the biggest show of the year, and for it to be one of our own, I feel like a proud parent.”
