Ed Sheeran has broken his silence after police stopped his performance on the street of India recently.
Despite having his busking performance stopped by police, the singer has insisted that he had permission to perform on the street in the country.
This comes as the singer performed two shows in Bengaluru, formerly Banglore at the NICE grounds last weekend, as part of his latest tour. He then went to perform a live busking session on Church Street, before being stopped by police, who unplugged his mic.
Sheeran even brought local Indian singer Shilpa Rao on stage at a recent show in the country.
Footage of this bizarre incident was shared on social media. Check that out here.
Taking to Instagram, Ed Sheeran said: "We had permission to busk, btw (by the way). Hence, us playing in that exact spot was planned out before. It wasn't just us randomly turning up. All good though. See you at the show tonight".
Footage of this was shared by local resident Sahil Kaling, who said that he was "a bit disappointed when police stopped him".
"They should have let him complete at least one song", he added.
Mr Kaling also said that he had "joked" with a friend about seeing the singer the day before running into him.
"We decided to take a walk on Church Street and just before entering (Mahatma Gandhi) MG Road metro station we saw him get out of a car", he said. "We couldn't believe we got the chance to see him performing up close. It was surreal".
Ed Sheeran is certainly no stranger to the world of busking, having started his career, performing at small, local venues, before reaching global superstardom.
He had busked in the London Underground, Brooklyn, New York, as well as a surprise show at his home town of Ipswich.
Last month, Sheeran also denied reports that he attended JK Rowling's New Year's Eve party. More on this here.
