Legendary 80s pop icon, Madonna has hit out at Tory Lanez for sampling Into the Groove without her consent. The ‘Queen of Pop’ commented on a recent Instagram post from the rapper, indicating she has already tried, and failed to receive a response.

Continuing his record - inspired by classic 80s tracks, Canadian rapper Lanez recently released new track, Pluto’s Last Commet. However, Madonna has made contact to point out (not that it needs to be..) that it has completely ripped off her 1984 hit.

Following her failed attempt to contact Lanez privately, the singer wrote in a public message; “Read your messages for illegal usage of my song get into the groove!

It remains unclear whether Lanez has read Madonna’s message or responded to her since she left the comment his post. Lanez has been no stranger to controversy this year, with the rapper’s name a constant showing in the December headlines. Lanez – legal name; Daystar Shemuel Shua Peterson, has been on trial for felony assault and gun charges following the alleged shooting of Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

Into the Groove, written and produced by Madonna and Stephen Bray, was first featured in the 1985 film, Desperately Seeking Susan, with Madonna starring in the title role. Pluto’s Last Comet, written by Lanez and produced by Orlando tha Great and Chaz Jackson, was just released this month on Lanez’s ’80s-inspired Alone at Prom project. Check out both tracks below.
