Rick Astley has shared some secrets from his time shooting the music video for his famous hit, 'Never Gonna Give You Up'.

The singer who enjoyed great success in the 1980s, has enjoyed somewhat of a renaissance in recent times, with his track becoming a famous meme in the mid noughties.

In a fresh interview, Astley has been sharing some unexpected secrets from the infamous music video.

"Everyone else who was making videos at the time, they'd have a stylist, but I remember bringing a black holdall with clothes in it to the shoot", Astley revealed. "If you look at the video closely and see close-ups of my shoes, they're old brogues that have seen quite a few miles".

He continued: "My first song, Never Gonna Give You Up, that video is etched into my DNA now. All I have to do is wear a stripy blue t-shirt under a blazer if we're out touring and the audience goes mad".

"he looked amazing in everything"

Elsewhere, Rick Astley also paid tribute to his own personal style icon, the late David Bowie.

"David Bowie - he looked amazing in everything, even trying to be an alien", the singer said. "The pinnacle for me was the Live Aid gig in 1985. He came on wearing a pale suit with really baggy trousers and a shortish jacket, and his hair was coiffed but as if he had just turned up, said, 'I don't need a mirror, darling,' and headed straight to the stage. He owned it".

In October 2023, Rick Astley also re recorded 'Never Gonna Give You Up' for a Specsavers advert, as part of a hearing loss campaign.
