Irish singer Samantha Mumba is hopeful of representing Ireland at the next Eurovision song contest, having been announced as another act added to the Eurosong final line up.
Mumba who burst onto the scene with her 2000 track, Gotta Tell You, at the age of 17, will compete at this final, which takes place on The Late Late Show Eurosong Special on February 7.
Following the release of her song, Gotta Tell You, the track peaked at number 4 in the Billboard Hot 100, as well as reaching the top 5 in the US, UK and Ireland. Her debut album also went onto to sell four million copies.
Speaking about this, Samantha Mumba said that she was "excited and nauseous" and that she felt "too old to be putting herself through this stress".
Mumba also added that she had been "asked about it (Eurovision) for years" and that "she really wanted to do it" but she didn't know the "powers that be".
She went on to say: "This year though, is a very personal year for me and I really want to challenge myself and push myself out of my comfort zone".
The singer then revealed that a contact then put her in touch with the "powers that be" who "had a chat and it went from there".
On February 7, Samantha Mumba will compete against artists, Bobbi Arlo, Adgy, Emmy, Niyl, and Reylta.
