Taylor Swift Crowned Global Recording Artist of the Year For a Fifth Time

Taylor Swift has been named the Global Recording Artist of the Year for a fifth time.

The singer was once again awarded this accolade, after breaking records, selling out arenas and reaching top spot across many charts during 2024. Swift had previously won this award in 2014, 2019. 2022. and 2023.

She has been recognised by the International Federation of the Phonographic (IFPI), which represents the music industry across the world. Swift also received the award in 2024.

Last year was hugely prosperous for Swift, mainly thanks to the success of her major Eras Tour, which also led to her back catalogue returning to the charts. Her albums including  2023's 1989 (Taylor's Version), 2022's Midnights, 2020's Folklore, 2020's Evermore, and 2019's Lover, all returned to the Top 20 of IFPI's 2024 Global Vinyl Album Chart.

Swift's eleventh studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, also led to Swift winning a further four IFPI awards, including: Global Album Chart, Global Vinyl Album Chart, Global Streaming Album Chart, and Global Album Sales Chart.

Speaking about Taylor Swift's accomplishments, IFPI's Chief Executive, Victoria Oakley said: "We are immensely proud to award the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award to Taylor Swift for the fifth time, as she continues to redefine the limits of global success". 

"This has been a huge year for Taylor, and it has been incredible to see the extent to which fans all over the world are connecting with her superb catalogue of music", she added.

Taylor Swift finished ahead of rapper Drake who finished in second place, with South Korean boyband Seventeen in third. American singer/songwriter Billie Eilish (4th), and Stray Kids make up the top five.

Breakthrough artists Zach Ryan and Sabrina Carpenter also feature on the list.
