Amid fears of the future of some major Irish jobs, there's promising news ahead.

Enterprise Ireland has launched a new five-year strategy aiming to create 40,500 new jobs and boost exports to €50 billion by 2029.

The plan, Delivering for Ireland, Leading Globally, sets a target of 275,000 jobs in supported companies, up from 234,454 last year. It also includes support for 1,000 new startups and the creation of 1,700 Irish-owned exporters.

Enterprise Ireland, which works with over 4,000 Irish businesses, wants to help local companies scale up and become a driving force in the economy. While global challenges like trade wars and tariffs loom, the agency believes Irish businesses have the resilience to adapt and thrive.

Interim CEO Kevin Sherry says the current strong export and employment figures give Enterprise Ireland a solid foundation to push for even greater international growth.

Minister for Enterprise Peter Burke is confident the plan will keep Ireland competitive, helping businesses stay ahead of global economic trends.
