A Status Orange weather warning has been issued for most of the country as the cold snap continues. Met Eireann says it will be extremely cold with temperatures set to plummet to minus 8 degrees tonight or lower.
A Status Orange low temperature and ice warning has now been issued for all of Munster and Connacht along with Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Westmeath ,Wicklow, Cavan, and Monaghan.
Met Eireann says it will be extremely cold with widespread severe frost, ice and lying snow.
It means dangerous travelling conditions and animal welfare issues.
The warning comes into effect at 8pm tonight and lasts until 10am tomorrow when the yellow lower warning will come back in.
Another orange low temperature warning has then been issued for tomorrow evening into Thursday morning for the entire country.
It means schools, creches and businesses will now have to make decisions about how they’ll operate for the next few days.
While 10 thousand homes in Tipperary, Kerry and Limerick are now facing into their third day without power as the cold snap continues to bite.
