Fashion retailer New Look has announced it is ceasing its Irish operations, with over three hundred jobs to be lost.
The company confirmed today that the High Court has approved the appointment of liquidators to oversee the winding down of its Irish business.
New Look, which operates 26 stores across 16 counties, says the decision follows years of financial difficulties, citing ongoing losses, rising operational costs, and weaker consumer spending.
In total, 347 staff are employed by the retailer in Ireland, with workers now expected to be part of a redundancy programme. Employees were notified immediately, and the company has pledged further engagement in the coming days.
Despite attempts to adapt through store changes, price trials, and marketing initiatives, New Look’s Irish division was deemed no longer viable. The company says it will now focus on its UK operations and online retail.
A clearance sale is set to take place in stores nationwide this Sunday. While New Look outlets will close, Irish customers will still be able to purchase collections through online platforms such as ASOS and Very.
