There are vast differences in pass rates at driving test centres around the country.

A test centre in Kilkenny has a higher pass rate of over 30 percentage points compared to a centre in Dublin

Figures released by the RSA show a large difference in pass rates at driving test centres around the country.

Pass rates for people learning to drive HGVs were the highest in Cork, Kerry and Offaly.

Charlestown in Dublin has the lowest pass rate in the country at 36.8 percent.

Meanwhile Kilkenny O’Loughlin Gaels had a high pass rate of 68.4 percent.

The Road Safety Authority says pass rates differ depending on how prepared candidates are as well as the size of the test centre.

Driving instructor Darren Mullane says being prepared is key: "The one thing that I can't teach as a driving instructor is experience. If you're not getting the experience in between the driving lessons, if you do the EDT process properly you're talking 48 hours driving, that would be the bare minimum"

The RSA says all tests are conducted in a fair manner and in an accordance with the standard procedures for conducting a driving test
