This theatrical performance, which saw dancers Michael Flately and Jean Butler stun an audience at the Dublin venue, before going on to be played throughout 49 countries across 6 continents, as well as being watched by over 30 million people worldwide.

Riverdance also played to a TV audience of 30 million worldwide, as well as playing more than 16,000 performances.

They have been hailed as the group which "has transformed from a spectacle into a global cultural phenomenon".

Celebrating its 30 anniversary on Sunday (February 9), a throw back video will be shared by the @riverdance social media accounts, showing some of the most memorable moments for the entire Riverdance cast over the last three decades.

Later this year, a new generation of dancers will also play at the Gaiety Theatre as part of a huge tour which runs from 5 June to 7 September, marking the special anniversary of the original Riverdance tour, which will perform across 45 locations in the USA and Canada until the end of June.

This was once again composed by Bill Whelan, produced by Moya Doherty, and directed by John McColgan.
