ABBA's Bjorn Ulvaeus has revealed that he was initially "troubled" over "severe problems" with the age gap between him and his wife when they first met.
The 79 year old musician met his now third wife, Christina Sas, who is 52, while they were working on the release of ABBA's comeback album, 'Voyage' in 2021. They started dating a year later following Ulvaeus's divorce from previous wife, Lena Kallersjo after 41 years of marriage.
Ulvaeus and Sas tied the knot in September last year, and the Swede has now opened up about their relationship and feelings of unease about their age gap.
Despite calling it “love at first sight”, Ulvaeus added: “Immediately I had severe problems with myself and the age difference". He continued: “When a man or a woman meets someone much younger and falls in love they think, ‘Am I doing the right thing?’”.
Eventually, Ulvaeus said he “just gave up”, explaining: “I decided, ‘It’s up to her – if she wants to live with someone older and we love each other…’ Age doesn’t come between us now – we rarely even talk about it".
