Accompanied by his wife Hilaria, the actor spoke before a group of photographers at the side of a road in the US state of Vermont.
"She was my friend," Baldwin said of the cinematographer who died when a live round was accidentally discharged from a prop gun fired by the actor. "We were a very, very well-oiled crew shooting a film together and then this horrible event happened."
Baldwin spoke of meeting with Hutchins' husband.
"He is in shock, he has a nine-year-old son," he said. "We are in constant contact with him because we are very worried about his family and his kid. As I said, we are eagerly awaiting for the sheriff’s department to tell us what their investigation has yielded."
Investigators at the scene of the incident in new Mexico have found evidence of complacency on the set of the film. 500 rounds of ammunition, some of which were live, were discovered on the set.
District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said it has yet to be determined whether negligence led to the death of Hutchins, with more research to be conducted.
