Baby Reindeer Among Big Winners At Emmy Awards

This year's awards show which took place at the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles, saw the hit series win big, with Richard Gadd winning accolades for writing and starring in the limited series category, while Jessica Gunning who co-starred in the series, scooped up the award for best supporting actress.

Accepting his awards, Richard Gadd called winning such accolades "the stuff of dreams" on a night where he won gongs for outstanding limited or anthology series, best writing, and lead actor for Baby Reindeer. 

Accepting the writing award, Richard Gadd added: "Ten years ago, I was down and out. I never ever thought I'd get my life together... then here I am, just over a decade later, picking up one of the biggest writing awards in television". 

Jessica Gunning who came out on top in the supporting actress category, stated that she was "incredibly proud" to be part of the show. 

"Thank you for trusting me to be your Martha," she said to Gadd. "I will never, ever forget her or you or this". 

Baby Reindeer is about a character named Donny Dunn who is stalked by a woman named Martha. 

The show eventually made headlines after a woman had claimed that she was the inspiration behind Martha. She filed a lawsuit against Netflix. alleging that the show was inaccurate. 

The Big Winners

Elsewhere, Shogun was another big winner at the Emmy Awards, as it became the first non-English language show to win best drama, as well as setting a record for most single season Emmy Award wins, winning four awards on the night, taking their overall tally up to 18.

Stars Hiroyuki Sanada and Anna Sawai also became the first Japanese actors to win Emmy Awards in the dramatic acting sections. 

Another series winning four Emmys on the night was The Bear in the comedy categories, which saw wins for Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Jeremy Allen White, Liza Colon-Zayas, with Hacks winning best comedy series.

The Crown star Elizabeth Debicki landed her first Emmy Award for her performance as Princess Diana, while Jodie Foster won her maiden Emmy award for best lead actress in a limited or anthology series for her role in True Detective: Night Country.
