Jamie Spears who is the maternal grandfather of Britney's sons Sean Preston and Jayden James, has had no contact with the two boys, following accusations of being physically violent with Sean when he was 13 years old.
It was alleged that Jamie broke down the door to get to Sean during a fight, and attempted to grab him.
While he wasn't criminally charged over the incident, a restraining order was put in place against Spears, who has had no contact with Sean or Jayden since, with their father Kevin Federline confirming at the time: "It was not Kevin's desire to see Jamie Spears be prosecuted".
Now, the boys are said to be keen on repairing their relationship with their grandfather.
"The boys miss their grandfather," said Kevin's lawyer, Mark Vincent Kaplan. "They have forgiven him".
It is believed that this rekindling of their relationship is in relation to Jamie's declining health, having had his leg amputated last November after a knee replacement caused a "terrible infection". He is now wheelchair bound.
It has been confirmed that the restraining order has "expired on its own terms", with Kaplan saying: "there's no restraint between Jamie communicating with them or them communicating with Jamie".
Adding that they "have been speaking with Jamie", Sean and Jayden now plan to meet their grandfather in Louisiana, saying that Kevin Federline would not "oppose" this visit, according to reports.
Federline also said that he is "supportive" of his sons mending fences with their grandfather.
Reports have also suggested that Sean and Jayden are making up with their mother Britney, having been estranged for the last 11 years.
