Celine Dion stated this a new sit down interview, where she is determined to return to the stage, despite being diagnosed with Stiff Person Syndrome, which causes stiff muscles in the torso, arms and legs, and can trigger severe spasms
"I'm going to go back onstage, even if I have to crawl. Even if I have to talk with my hands, I will. I will", the singer insisted.
Speaking about her illness, Celine Dion even revealed that the pain has spread throughout her whole body, and has caused her to suffer broken ribs. "It's like somebody is strangling you", Dion explained.
Dion was speaking ahead of the upcoming release of her documentary: I Am Celine Dion, which airs to Prime Video on June 25.
Dion says: "I am Celine Dion because today my voice will be heard for the first time, not just because I have to, or because I need to. It's because I want to and I miss it".
While there is no cure for Stiff Person Syndrome, the symptoms can be controlled. The US National Institutes of Health have also said that the issue affects twice as many women as men. This illness forced Dion to cancel her run of shows in 2023 and 2024.
Dion has sold over 250 million albums across her career.
