The new album which arrived on Friday, also includes covers of the Beatles' 'Blackbird', and Dolly Parton's hit 'Jolene'. It follows on from the singer's Grammy award winning album 'Renaissance' in 2022, which also served as Act 1 of the trilogy.
Beyoncé's new album includes the track 'Dolly P' a second introduction to the singer's cover of 'Jolene'.
The track itself compares a lyrics in Parton's 1973 hit about "flaming locks of auburn hair", to a lyric in Beyoncé's song Sorry where she sings about "Becky with the good hair", a light dig at Jay Z's infidelities.
Parton says, "You know that hussy with the good hair you sang about, reminded me of someone I knew back when, except she has flaming locks of auburn hair, bless her heart, just hair a different colour but it hurts just the same".
Other tracks on the album feature duets with singers, including Parton's goddaughter Miley Cyrus on the track titled, 'II Most Wanted', while tracks Smoke Hour and Smoke Hour II also see an introduction from country star Willie Nelson.
Rumi, Beyoncé's six year old daughter can also be heard asking for a lullaby at the beginning of the song 'Protector,' while on 'Spaghetti', Linda Martell's vocals can be also heard on the song.
On the album itself, Beyoncé revealed that the origins for Act II: Cowboy Carter, emanated from an experience where she "did not feel welcome", inspiring her to delve deep into the history of the origin.
"This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed... and it was very clear that I wasn't", the singer said. "But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.
"It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history."
"The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me", she added. "Act ii is a result of challenging myself and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work".
