Coleen Rooney has opened up about her husband Wayne's previous "mistakes".

During the latest episode of 'I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here', Coleen Rooney claimed that her husband Wayne has not been forgiven in the court of popular opinion.

Back in 2017, Wayne Rooney was issued with 100 hours of unpaid community service, having admitted to being nearly three times over the legal drink drive limit, while driving another woman's car following a night out.

In 2004, Wayne Rooney had released a statement revealing that he had occasionally visited "massage parlours and prostitutes" when he was "very young and immature", before he "settled down with Coleen".

"people have not forgiven"

Speaking to her campmate Oti Mabuse, Coleen Rooney said that the public has not forgiven Wayne over his past misdemeanours.

"Since the first mistake he’s made, that’s been in the public, people have not forgiven", Coleen said. "When things have happened the public have wanted it to just go oh, split, you know, that’s it, split them up. But the fact is, there’s always been love still there…".

"It has been difficult, but we’re happy now, after all those years… we’re a team".

Coleen also explained that despite the fact that they only began dating aged 16, the couple had to grow up quick, and "felt older because we had to grow up quick, because we were living in the public eye".

She added: "If he could’ve just played football and had none of the fame I think he would’ve been happier within life".

Coleen also revealed that Wayne has also written her poems.

"You know the hotel pads? He was always writing a little poem and putting it in his bag and he’d give it to me when we got home," she told campmate and podcaster GK Barry. "They’re nice to keep but I can’t remember the last time he gave me one".
