Famous actor Dick Van Dyke has shared his secret to staying fit and healthy, as he continues to go strong at the age of 99.
Van Dyke, much loved for his roles in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and Mary Poppins, has even revealed that he goes to the gym three times a week.
He spoke about reasons for going strong at his age, while chatting to fellow actors Ted Danson and his wife Mary Steenburgen on their podcast Where Everybody Knows Your Name.
The actor also revealed that he has plans to have a "big party" to celebrate his 100th birthday on December 13.
“I go back to 1925, I’m almost 100. This is insane", stated Van Dyke. “I’m going to have a big party".
Sharing his secrets for a healthy lifestyle, Dick Van Dyke added: : “Somebody said, ‘To what do you attribute your age and physical condition?’ and I said, ‘I’ve always exercised’.
“Three days a week, we go to the gym, still. Three days a week. And I think that is it".
Elsewhere, Ted Danson recalled seeing Van Dyke working out at gym where he lived in Malibu.
“If I got there early enough I would see you literally work out on some weight machine", Danson told Van Dyke.
“Then, almost like you were doing circuit training, you would not walk to the next machine, you danced", he added. “You literally danced to the next machine and I watched that for a couple of weeks".
At this point, Dick's wife Arlene Shiver quipped: “He still does that".
Danson also revealed that when he asked Van Dyke about his fitness regime at the time, he told him that when he finishes his workout, he often goes for a swim, before going home to sleep.
On this, Dick Van Dyke explained that he does “a lot of stretching and yoga”, as well as using weighted machines at the gym.
Last month, Dick Van Dyke confirmed that he was one of a myriad of celebrities who were forced to evacuate from his home in Malibu, due to the wildfires.
“Arlene and I have safely evacuated with our animals except for Bobo escaped as we were leaving,” he wrote on social media at the time “We’re praying he’ll be ok and that our community in Serra Retreat will survive these terrible fires".
The actor also appeared in a music video for Coldplay's single, 'All My Love'. Check that out here.
Last Summer, Dick Van Dyke also became the oldest winner of an Emmy Award, when he took home the accolade for Best Guest Performer In A Daytime Drama Series for his role on Days Of Our Lives as Timothy Robicheaux. More on this here.
