Dolly Parton has released her first statement since the death of her husband, Carl Dean.

Dean's death was confirmed via Parton's social media account, after he passed away in Nashville on Monday (March 3), aged 82. Parton also confirmed that her late husband would be laid to rest at a private ceremony.

"Carl and I spent many wonderful years together", she said. "Words can't do justice to the love we shared for over 60 years. Thank you for your prayers and sympathy". More on this here.

"meant the world to me"

Since then, Dolly Parton has shared a fresh statement, paying tribute to Carl Dean, and thanking fans for their supportive messages at this difficult time.

“Thank you all for the messages, cards, and flowers that you’ve sent to pay your respects for the loss of my beloved husband Carl. I can’t reach out personally to each of you but just know it has meant the world to me", Parton said.

On her husband's passing, the singer added: “He is in God’s arms now and I am okay with that. I will always love you". See this statement in full here.

Carl Dean and Dolly Parton were married since 1966, having first met in 1964. Despite their lengthy married, Carl Dean was rarely seen out in public or photographed with his wife.
