Martin's comments come as Coldplay had announced plans to take time to consider how the band would tour in the future, and how to make it as eco-friendly as possible.
Coldplay had embarked on their 'Music Of Their Spheres' tour last year, which focused on environmental sustainability, with new initiatives including cutting direct emissions by 50%, compared with their 2016 and 2017 tours.
Each venue also featured solar installations, energy-generating exercise bikes and using 100% renewable energy. Kinetic dancefloors were also installed in each show to turn fans' movement into power.
In a recent interview, Chris Martin stated that this new approach also makes more sense financially, as well as being environmentally sustainable.
“What we’re trying to do is actually not advocate at all, but just prove that it makes business sense because that’s where we feel you’ll really get people to change, like ‘Hey you can make more money’", Martin said.
The singer also insisted that "way more people than you think" care about the welfare of this planet, adding, “Most people, if they have the luxury of being able to care about it, care about it".
Chris Martin also said that this tour will show that taking the green approach is not “some charitable, left-wing, wishy-washy thing, it’s like, ‘No, no, this is the best business sense, too’".
