The music icon spoke about this at last Friday's Toronto International Festival, as he reflected on his life, including his family and his career in music.

Despite being hailed as one of the greatest musicians of all time, Elton John has stated that family means more to him, including his husband David Furnish and their two children, 13 year old Zachary and 11 year old Elijah. The musician married Furnish back in 2014.

Following the premiere of his autobiographical film Elton John: Never Too Late at the Roy Thomson Hall, Elton John said:  "On my tombstone, I don't want it to say he sold a million records. I want it to say he was a great dad and great husband".

This documentary was co-directed by Elton's husband David Furnish, and explores the pair's relationship, as well as the music legend's rise to stardom, starting with his famous Dodger Stadium performances in 1975.

It will conclude with Elton's Farewell Yellow Brick Road shows which began in 2022 at the same venue.

"The thing I love about this movie is that I have him (Furnish) and my two sons. I'm very proud of what I've achieved. I hope to keep making music, but I want to be home and treasure them. Having a No. 1 album is really nice for five minutes, but this is a lifetime", Elton is also quoted to say about this documentary.

Elton John: Never Too Late is to arrive on Disney+ on 13 December.
