First Ever Olympic Rowing Gold For Ireland Thanks To McCarthy & O'Donovan

Despite trailing by 1.4 seconds early on, Ireland recovered to ultimately see off germany by 0.86 of a second by the finish. Germany finished in second, while Italy finished with the Bronze medal in third. 

A magnificent achievement for the pair.

Yesterday, Siobhan Haughey secured a medal in the swimming while the four of Aifric Keogh, Emily Hegarty, Eimear Lambe and Fiona Murtagh secured a bronze medal in the women's four final.
