Goodman who was head judge on the show from 2004 to 2016, passed away just days before his 79th birththday, surrounded by his family last Saturday night at a hospice in Kent. He had been diagnosed with bone cancer.

Goodman's death was confirmed by his agent Jackie Gill, who released this statement.

"It is with great sadness to announce that Len Goodman has passed away peacefully, aged 78", the statement read. "A much loved husband, father and grandfather who will be sorely missed by family, friends and all who knew him".

Len Goodman's final appearance on Strictly Come Dancing came during the 2016 Christmas Day special, before he was replaced by Shirley Ballas. He was known for his warm sense of humour and fondness for Latin, along with his iconic catchphrase "Se-ven", which took him to the hearts of Strictly fans everywhere.

Following this sad news, a myriad of household names and friends have paid homage to Goodman, including Strictly Come Dancing colleagues Bruno Tonioli, Craig Revel Horwood and Cladia Winkleman among others.
