Having first starred in the franchise in 1981's Indiana Jones Raiders Of The Lost Ark, Ford has proceeded to star in a further four sequels, with his final film Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny seeing him star alongside Mads Mikkelsen, Phoebe Waller-Bridge and Toby Jones.

Back in September, the 80 year old confirmed that the latest Indiana Jones installment would be his last film with the franchise.

While insisting that he is grateful to have starred in the franchise for the past four decades, Harrison Ford has revealed that he is looking forward to the prospect of spending "a little bit more time at home". Ford also added that filmmakers do not need his "blessing" to make any future reboots.

"I'd like to spend a little bit more time at home, frankly", the actor said. "I love making movies, I’ve been making movies for longer than even 42 years and… my work is really important to me".

"I really appreciate the opportunity to do it – my wife granted me that opportunity", he added. "But I’ve been working a lot lately so I might be due for a bit of a rest".

On the idea film remakes, Ford said, "They don’t need my blessing - if they want to do that, they do that".

"not a hero-hero"

On the latest installment of the Indiana Jones franchise, Ford feels that his character's "fraility" was illustrated.

"He’s not a hero-hero with a cape (and) a nice lycra suit – he’s a flawed human being that behaves sometimes in ways that are appropriate and some ways that are not", stated Ford. "But this film is about that, about that aspect of his life and his personality".

Harrison Ford was speaking the premiere of the latest Indiana Jones film, where he was joined by his co-stars, along with directors Steven Spielberg, James Mangold and George Lucas.

Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny will hit cinema screens on June 28.
