At a recent public appearance, Elton John has expanded on his current health situation, revealing that he has "lost all my eyesight".
Back in September, the music icon revealed that he had been battling an ongoing eye infection over the Summer, which had left him with “only limited vision in one eye”.
“I am healing, but it’s an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye", the singer had said.
At a recent gala performance for The Devil Wears Prada, a musical adaptation of the novel and 2005 film of the same name, and a production which he had worked on, Elton John announced that he lost his eyesight.
Accompanied by his husband David Furnish while on stage, Elton John added: “I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my eyesight. So it’s hard for me to see it. But I love to hear it and boy it sounded good tonight".
Back in October, Elton John paid tribute to his family for the love and support they have shown him throughout this difficult time.
"To be honest with you, there's not much of me left. I don't have tonsils, adenoids or an appendix. I don't have a prostate," he said. "I don't have a right hip or a left knee or a right knee. In fact, the only thing left to me is my left hip. But I'm still here. And I can't thank you (enough), you're the people that made me".
"I want to thank David and Zachary and Elijah for making me the happiest man in the world".
