Originally from Dublin, McKenna has received a nod for an award in the Outstanding Main Title Design category, thanks to his work on the opening credits for the popular series.

He is among a list of people nominated for the award, including  the Lord of the Rings (Rings of Power)WednesdayThe Last of Us - the first video game adaptation to receive major Emmy attention - Hello Tomorrow! and Cabinets of Curiosities.

Cían McKenna moved to Westport during the pandemic, working on the Italian-villa-inspired opening sequence for three months in the Summer of 2022, collaborating with Lezio Lopes, a Sydney-based illustrator.

The designer is also one of several Irish nominees, including Dearbhla Walsh who is nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series, with Sharon Horgan also recognised for her work on the Apple TV show.

Declan Lowney who directed Father Ted, also received a nod for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series category.

This year's edition of the Emmy Awards will mark the first time that the ceremony will take place in January, after it was pushed back due to the Hollywood writers' and actor's strikes.

It is also the first time that the Emmy Awards have moved dates since 2001, when it was forced to move twice, following the 9/11 terrorist attacks and US military action in Afghanistan.

The Emmy Awards will take place on January 15.
