James Corden has thanks the fans of Gavin and Stacey following the Christmas finale of the British sitcom.
The much loved sitcom which first aired between 2007 and 2010 on BBC, aired a Christmas Day finale, which drew in an audience of 12.3 million UK viewers, according to overnight figures.
Written by co-stars James Corden and Ruth Jones, the sitcom followed the long distance relationship between Gavin played by Mathew Horne, and Stacey, portrayed by Joanna Page.
Taking to Instagram, James Corden who played Smithy in the show, had this message for his fans.
"Here’s some behind the scenes photos from the special. Thank you so much to everyone who watched last night", Corden wrote. "It means more than you’ll know. All my love, James xx".
The post which you can check out below, includes photos Corden's character Neil 'Smithy' Smith, and Jones' character Vanessa 'Nessa' Jenkins, as well as the cast filming from Gavin and Stacey: The Finale in Wales.
This year's Christmas special followed on from the 2019 Christmas special, which aired 11.6 million viewers. It ended on a cliff-hanger with Nessa proposing to her on/off boyfriend Smithy, played by Corden.
One photo shared by Corden, also shows a disconsolate Nessa in the background, and Smithy's fiancé Sonia in a wedding dress.
Fans of the sitcom got the ending they wanted, with the episode ending with Smith and Nessa tying the knot in a low-key wedding, with the couple set to live happily ever after.
