Aniston who starred as Rachel Green in the beloved sitcom alongside Perry's character Chandler Bing, revealed that she text Perry on the morning of his death, insisting that he was in a good place.
Speaking about Perry, Aniston stated that the late actor was "getting in shape" before his death. Matthew Perry was found dead in his LA home back in October. He was 54 years old.
When asked about how Perry would like to be remembered, Jennifer Aniston had this to say.
"He was happy. He was healthy. He had quit smoking", stated Aniston. "He was happy — that's all I know. I was literally texting with him that morning, funny Matty. He was not in pain. He wasn’t struggling. He was happy".
"…I want people to know he was really healthy, and getting healthy. He was on a pursuit. He worked so hard. He really was dealt a tough one".
She added, "I miss him dearly. We all do. Boy, he made us laugh really hard".
Jennifer Aniston also paid homage to the countless messages of love coming from all around the world after news broke of Perry's death, calling them "so beautiful".
"I hope he can know that he was loved in a way he never thought he was," Aniston said. "I also have to say I think Matthew Perry’s dialect, his way of speaking, created a whole different world. We went with his lead, in a way. It just added something to our joy".
Following his death, a statement was released on behalf of Perry's co stars David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc and of course Aniston.
“We are all so utterly devastated by the loss of Matthew”, the cast said in this joint statement. “We were more than just cast mates. We are a family”.
