Jennifer Lawrence To Star In And Produce New 'Real Housewives' Film

It has been announced that Jennifer Lawrence will be starring in and producing Apple Studios and A24s newest film ‘The Wives’.

The new movie is reportedly based off of ‘The Real Housewives’ franchise, a reality show that follows the lives and dramas of a group of wealthy housewives. Viewers can expect loud luxury, messy drama and a dark murder-mystery twist.

Jennifer Lawrence has been vocal for her love of the reality show and all of its spin offs, telling ‘Entertainment Tonight’ at the 2024 Golden Globes that she would love to hand her Oscar over to ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ for creating what was, in her opinion, the “best reality TV finale, I think, ever.” The actress said it left her “jaw on the floor,”

“I'll give them mine” The Hunger Games star laughed, “They deserve it!”

Lawrence has been expressing her love for the series as far back as 2014, when she told Vanity Fair that it was one of her favourite reality TV shows. “I love Intervention, New York Housewives and Beverly Hills, New Jersey, and Atlanta Housewives. I mean, I love them all, but Miami – oh, my God! Miami is really special,” the star gushed.

Reportedly there has been a lot of competition between studios around the acquisition of ‘The Wives’, with Apple Studios and A24 finally acquiring the new mystery movie after a “highly competitive situation” as reported by Variety.

Details about the film are being kept very ‘under-wraps’, but we know the film will be co-produced by Lawrence herself, alongside producers Justine Ciarrocchi, Jeremy O. Harris (Zola, Slave Play) and Josh Godfrey (Manchester by the Sea, Suspiria)

This won't be Lawrence's only producer credit as she recently produced the documentary ‘Bread & Roses’, following the lives of Afghan women after the Taliban took control in 2021.

The script will be written by Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley, the writers of the Pulitzer Prize finalist play, ‘Circle Jerk’.
