The police have confirmed Timberlake was arrested in the early hours of the morning in the wealthy village of Sag Harbor in the Hamptons, New York.
A spokesperson for the SAG Harbor Village Police Department has said that the My Love singer was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI). They are expected to release a formal statement in due course.
Grammy Award winning singer, Justin Timberlake is scheduled to perform in Chicago this week, ahead of two shows at Madison Square Garden in New York a week later.
The former Nsync bandmember is to also begin the European leg of his tour in Krakow, Poland on July 26, as well as concerts in Birmingham, Manchester and two shows in London's 02 in August.
This tour comes after Timberlake released his latest album, 'Everything I Thought It Was' in March.
